 Seeking Shelter

Large paws, seeming way too large for her somewhat large four month old body, padded softly across the smoothe, dry rocks underneath them.
Her eyes scanned her surroundings, as she listened to the distant rumbling of thunder and lightning.

Aida was slightly uncertain, though in her mind she kept telling herself to be strong. She hated storms, they were her one weakness. No matter how hard she tried to overcome them, she couldn't get past the fact that her mother had died in one..
Freezing cold raindrops began falling on her, soaking her red pelt. She was shivering now, uncertian as to what she should do. There wasn't any snow down here luckilly, and the cold winds were blocked by the sheer cliff walls. She spotted a little ledge, aith a small indent in it. Jumping up onto it, as it wasn't far from the ground, she discovered a rather small opening, just big enough for a wolf. OUtside thunder rumbled harder, and she moaned in fear as she bounded into the cave, huddling in the back and shivering with cold. She dirfted off, and before she knew it, she was dreaming fitfully..

rather large russet wolf lay beside a small, and helpless looking pup. The larger wolf was covered in large bite marks, and had a deep burnt spot on her left shoulder. A pack of wolves had exiled her, for what reason the pup did not understand. The russet wolf had been beat half to death, and in trying to escape in a thunderstorm, got struck by lightning.
She had managed to drag herself into a small cave, and her pup had followed her. The pup seemed unharmed, though in truth she was just trying to be tough, as her mother had always asked.. The russet wolf was dying, the pup was sure of it.. She tried to hold back her tears, as her mother whispered her last words.
"Aida my dear, please stay strong, and never let anyone harm you as they have done me.." She whispered on her dying breath, and the pup began to howl quietly. She was now all alone in the world, and would now have to learn everything herself...

Suddenly Aida opened her eyes, hearing a sound nearby. Her eyes were welled with tears, but she shook her head, flicking them off to join with the drops falling off her pelt.

A soft pat could be heard barely, accompanying the pitter-patter of rain drops falling heavily, yet elegantly from the charcoal sky, drowned with the presence of dark threatening clouds.
A flurry of white could be seen at the caves mouth as a pair of kind, welcoming eyes greeted Aida's as a familiar face was seen.
She tilted her small fluffy head and looked at Aida worryingly.
" Aida, we can't keep living like this, you can't keep living at this. We need somewhere safe to call home." the wolf carefuly stood in the shelter and approached Aida blocking out the view of atrocious, stormy weather.
" Were not safe her Aida." her ears softly lowered turning her head over to look out of the cave.
" This storm if like our structure of life, unbalanced and uncontrollable. We will surely see the unthinkable by ourselves, and i don't think the ones looking down on us would want our eyes to see what they did anymore." Her soft white paws picked herself up and trotted over to Aida and sat next to her carefully and slowly.
" I don't trust the weather."

Aida was huddled in the corner, though her ears perked a bit when she saw who the wolf was and heard the comforting sound of her friend's voice.
"I.. I'm scared.. That's all...I..I'll be ok..." She told her, her voice kind of weak from her emotions.
She cruled up in a little ball in the back corner, her body shaking as she whispered."She died.. My mother.. Brutally murdered.. Too weak to get out of the storm...Too weak..." SHe sat up and howled mournfully, her cry echoing in the small cave.
after a few moments she stopped and looked at the white wolf before her, the one she called her friend. She wasn't sure why she trusted her, but she did..
"How can I trust a pack when my mom was brutally murdered by hers? My father's very own teeth left the marks that later deemed her too weak to get out of the storm in time..." Her eyes were teary, but it was clear she was feeling stronger now, though the storm was now even worse outside.
Her mother would be after her for being weak.. and she knew she needed to toughen up or else...
She began pacing back and forth, her tail held high, her eyes on the wall her 'destination'.
Her paws left wet prints along the stone floor, looking as if a much larger wolf had been there.

Yuki sighed and smiled at Aida, it was good to see her good friend safe and sound, but she knew this life would be painful for both Aida, and herself. She softly shook her head to Aida and gave her a comforting smile, calmly rising up and placing her paw on Aida's back as she rose to touch the caves rocky face. This was a rather odd trick for a wolf, but had been around many places and had picked things up.
"Not all packs are like them Aida, there are kind, comforting, loving packs too. Not everyone is bad. You might think you mother would hate you for joining a pack, but thats a sign of strength. That your not living in fear, in sadness, and in the past." Yuki's poor landed silently on the cold damp stone floor and all could be seen from Aida's view was Yuki's tail swish by her as she turned around and looked out into the stormy weather.
"I'll personally find us a home we can truely call 'Home' Aida, If that is, you think living in a rough area where were under threat by all neighbouring packs if a better resort than joining one." Yuki gave out a winey yawn and scratched her ear, shaking off the droplets of water clinging to her pure coat, her tail resting on the ground quietly.
